Sittwe is the capital of Rakhine state. Sittwe became an important port after the British occupation of Arakan (1826) though it was a village in the past. Nowadays, it is very main city and commercial hub of Rakhine state. Sittwe fish market, Shwezedi monastery, Rakhine State cultural museum, Sittwe Phayagyi, Ahkyaib-daw pagoda and View point are the attractions for Sittwe.
